Hello Friends,

Welcome to our third newsletter! In case you missed last month’s issue, you can see the May 2016 archive here.

For today, here are three new stock image ideas for you:

1) Canada Day Photography Idea:

July 1st is Canada Day! To celebrate this special holiday, Catherine turned a Maple Mousse Cake from the (Metro) grocery store into a “patriotic dessert” stock image. You can see this image, the inspiration for this idea, and also learn how magazines can help you compose your photo here.

2) Bible Verse Photography Idea:

“Faith the size of a mustard seed.” This particular phrase first intrigued Catherine many years ago (when she was in her late teen years or early 20s). It’s a phrase from the Bible verse, Matthew 17:20:

“...For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there', and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” -- Matthew 17:20 New Revised Standard Version, Anglicised Catholic Edition (NRSVACE)

When Catherine pursued the art of photography professionally, this Bible verse from Matthew 17:20 inspired her to capture a photo titled, “Planting Seeds of Faith.”

You can see how Catherine used some soil, mustard seeds, an engraved stone, and a little help from her husband, which resulted in a creative and inspirational stock image here.

3) “Thinking” Squirrel Photography Idea:

There are many squirrel images in stock photo agencies. How can you make yours unique?

Here’s one idea that Catherine created: She took a beautiful photo of a red squirrel; however, there was a problem area – a clump of bright spots -- in the forest. The bright spots were distracting because they initially drew the eye away from the main subject (the squirrel).

In this “behind-the-scenes” interview, you’ll learn which Photoshop tool Catherine used to turn these bright spots into a really cool “abstract word bubble” above the squirrel. It solved a problem and it also made the squirrel image more unique because the squirrel now appears to be “thinking.” People can add their own text inside the “abstract word bubble.” Get the full details and see the image here.

We hope that you find these ideas helpful as you pursue your photography projects.

We look forward to sending more stock image ideas on the 27th of next month!
